Inspiration

In sailing, the mizzen is the mast furthest aft. When the term is feminine, it refers to the sail. The great ships of the line and frigates of the 17th century mainly mounted round rigs, but they also added triangular sails on the mizzen and bowsprit masts (in addition to the stays) which enabled them to sail upwind at very tight angles.
